An Ethical Obligation of an Engineer

• As an engineer, you have a direct and vital impact on the quality of life for all people and must be dedicated to the “protection of the public health, safety, and welfare”. What is more important than protecting the public during an “Event” in which proper functioning fire protection system is vitally important to the potential survival of said public?

• It’s ok not to be experts in corrosion or fire protection system but we are ethically obligated to reach out to someone who is, especially when doing additions or modifications to an existing fire protection system where potential hazards are not visible to the naked eye prior to putting your stamp (and reputation) on drawings?

  • Through our services, we can test the efficacy of the existing system in order to give you and your client peace of mind on the piping system you are expanding and in doing so help in protecting your client and your stamp.

Deliverable to design engineer/firm

• When hired, you will be provided with a full report which includes test point locations and results, photos of test locations, the anticipated lifespan of the piping within the system and more. This report will help you coordinate with your client to develop a replacement/mitigation plan or at a minimum provide baseline knowledge of existing system status.
